Q: Why was Saul angry and jealous of David?

A: King Saul was angry and jealous of David primarity because of David's immense popularity success in the battle and the threat he posed to Saul's kingship. 

Q: What kind of men joined David?

 A: David was joined by a large diverse and highly skilled army of valiant loyal and battle hardened warriors.

 A: King Saul was often gloomy, depressed, and plagued by an evil or distressing spirit that departed from the Lord. 

Q: Why did Saul like David's music?

 A: King Saul enjoyed David's music because it provided therapeutic calming relief from the torment of an evil spirit or intense anxiety that plagued him.

Saul offers a sacrifice

 

Q: Why did Saul offer the sacrifice?;

A: Saul offered the sacrifice out of fear and impatience, as his army was scattering the  Philistines were gathering for battle and Samuel had not arrived at Gilgal by the appointed time. 

Q: What did Samuel say would happen because of Saul's sacrifice?

 A: Because King Saul disobeyed instructions and offered a sacrifice himself rather than waiting for the prophet Samuel Saul didn't become king anymore.

Samuel Anoints Israel's King

 

Q:How did Samuel know to make Saul the king?

A:A: Samuel knew to make Saul king because God directly revealed it to him, identifying Saul as the chosen leader to deliver Israel from the Philistines.

Q: How did Samuel do this?

A:Samuel poured olive oil from a small bottle onto Saul's head.
